The Bears Participate in Volleyball's March Madness

The final matches for the Wednesday Night Burlington YMCA coed volleyball league came to an end. The results were not what you expected it to be, which brings us to that saying, "It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings." The Bears exceeded all expectations as they were crowned the best in the winter "B" volleyball league.

For the first time in recent memory, neither the first or second place teams were in the finals. The fifth place team, Who Knows (15-12), upset the first place team, Mojo (26-1), by winning only one game on court. Mojo forfeited the first game. After trailing 9-13 in the second game, Who Knows scored 6 quick points to end the match.

The third place Bears (17-10) upset second place Whatever (19-8) in two straight games in the semi-finals. The Bears won three straight in the championship match, as Who Knows played flat after their emotionally charged win in the semi-finals. This month of March has certainly been the month of upsets.
