High School Football: Camden Catholic Missed Opportunity To Advance In Playoffs Saturday, November 18, 2000 By Art Redd The Fighting Irish from Camden Catholic were hosting the Green Knights of St. Joseph of Montvale in a Parochial Group 3 playoff meeting. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead, St. Joseph were shut down for most of the second half giving the Irish a chance for a spectacular comeback against a very good football team. The offense for Camden Catholic would come alive in the second half, but they weren't able to penetrate the Green Knights defense in the red zone and come up short in their attempt to defeat St. Joseph. A late interception and a touchdown by St. Joseph slammed the door on the Irish and come away with a 20-6 playoff victory. |

High School Football: Shawnee Wins Another Big Playoff Game On The Road Saturday, November 18, 2000 By Vincent Lewis Try telling the Shawnee Renegades that it's hard to win games away from your home field. Last week the Renegades won a playoff game at Cherokee in front of a huge crowd. Again faced with another obstacle of traveling on the road to Washington Township, the Renegades took the early lead and advanced to the Group 4 finals with a 21-7 semi-final victory. |
High School Ice Hockey: Cherry Hill West Out Man Collingswood Friday, November 17, 2000 By Mike Costantino Kevin Flowers had two goals and Mike Gumpper had a goal and an assist as Cherry Hill West defeated an undermanned Collingswood team 7-2 in Tier 2 action at Hollydell. Collingswood only dressed six skaters and a goaltender and displayed a lot of stamina and heart in keeping the game as competitive as it was. It seems that there was a homecoming dance at the school that accounted for the team being depleted of its players. But since when does a dance take precedent over a team sport? How many guys were probably saying, "I should have went to the game." |
High School Ice Hockey: Hennessy And Miller Star As Rancocas Romps West Deptford Friday, November 17, 2000 By Mike Costantino Dan Hennessy had a hat trick and Gary Miller chipped in with a goal and three assists as Rancocas Valley skated to a surprisingly easy 8-0 victory over West Deptford in a Tier 2 game played at Hollydell on Friday night. Rancocas took the lead in the first two minutes of the game, taking advantage of a man advantage as Miller fed Kyle Tuliano and his goal made it 1-0. Just about four minutes later Hennessy scored the first of his three to increase the lead to 2-0. West Deptford seemed to struggle most of the night as a more determined Rancocas squad consistently beat them to the puck. |

High School Ice Hockey: Township Outlasts Cinnaminson in Semi-Final Rematch Monday, November 13, 2000 By Jack Anderson In a rematch of last years semi-finals Washington Township held on to defeat Cinnaminson 9-7 in a see-saw affair at the Skate Zone in Pennsauken. The first period saw each team score three goals and each time Township took the lead, Cinnaminson would respond to tie the score. Township was able to seize control in the second period out scoring Cinnaminson by two goals, taking a 7-5 lead into the third period. Drew Peterson, a freshman who seems to have his own fan club, scored twice in the period and was relentless on his forechecking. |
