Surf, Ducks Split Twin Bill

The Atlantic City Surf split a doubleheader Sunday night at Sandcastle Stadium, winning the first game in ten innings 1-0, and dropping the second, 4-3. It was the first win in nine tries for Long Island at the Sandcastle this season. In the first game it was starter Archie Corbin and relievers Mark Persails and Damon Ponce DeLeon combining to pitch ten shutout innings. Ponce DeLeon earned his eleventh win. Duck’s starter John DeSilva pitched eight innings of scoreless ball, allowing just three runs. Reliever Jamie Brewington took the loss, giving up a run in the tenth.

For some time, The World Cup of Hockey and its predecessor, the Canada Cup, represented the only world hockey championships truly open to the world's best players. In this year's event, Canada and USA opened the World Cup of Hockey by facing each other in their first game in Montreal. After Team Canada defeated Team USA 2-1 in their first game of the World Cup of Hockey, some of the Flyers answered questions about the game and the World Cup of Hockey.

Surf's Up, Down Ducks 12-6

The Atlantic City Surf used the long ball to defeat the Long Island Ducks 12-6 on Saturday night for the seventh straight time at the Sandcastle. The Surf offense was powered by two-run homers off the bats of Carlos Adolfo and Al Benjamin plus a three-run homer from Mel Rosario. For Adolfo, it was his third homerun in as many nights since joining the Surf earlier in the week. Dario Delgado collected two hits and scored three times and Ben Candelaria continued swinging a hot stick with three hits.

Riversharks Score Early to Knock off Pats

With their ace on the mound, the Camden Riversharks scored six runs in the first four innings on their way to a 7-3 victory over the Somerset Patriots on Friday night at Campbell’s Field. For the second straight night the Riversharks were able to score four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but this they were not forced to eliminate a five-run deficit. The Riversharks sent nine batters to the plate as second baseman Troy Cameron provided the big hit of the inning with a three-run double into the left field corner.

Surf Beat Up on Bears, 8-1

The Atlantic City Surf took advantage of good starting pitching and three Newark Bears' errors to win 8-1 in Newark Thursday night. Starter Kyle Goldwater overcame four Surf errors to earn his fifth win by pitching eight innings of two-hit ball. He allowed just an unearned run while striking out five. Gary Johnson had four hits and drove in two runs and Ben Candelaria and Carlos Adolfo added two-run homeruns.

Phantoms Announce Preseason Schedule
First-ever Match-up vs. Trenton Highlights Four-game Exhibition Slate

The first-ever match-up against the Trenton Titans highlights the Philadelphia Phantoms' 2004 preseason schedule, which was released today. The Phantoms will play three of their four exhibition games in the Philadelphia/Trenton area. The preseason schedule commences on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m., when Philadelphia hosts the Albany River Rats at the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia. The teams will then meet again on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the New Jerseys Devils' practice facility, South Mountain Arena, in West Orange, N.J.

Widger Blast Walkoff Homer For Camden

Pennsville High School product Chris Widger belted a 2-1 fastball from Somerset reliever Paul Darnell over the wall in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the Riversharks to an 8-7 victory at Campbell’s Field on Thursday night. It capped a four-hit night for the Camden catcher, who also recorded singles in the first, fifth and seventh innings. The Riversharks were forced to overcome an early five-run first inning deficit to earn the victory.

When you think of professional football players such as Adam Archuleta, Ronnie Lott, Ray Lewis and Deion Sanders, the thought that might come to mind is a very confident defensive player who seems to be around the ball on every play. These are players who have worked hard on every aspect of their game and have become very noticeable by their peers and fans throughout the National Football League. There’s a high school football player by the name of Damian Baltodano who is well on his way of building the confidence of being a sound defensive player in South Jersey. Sticking to his plan, Baltodano has been conditioning with Graig White’s Team Conditioning Systems, getting an early start preparing for football life as a Panther at Camden High.

The Atlantic City Surf moved within one game of the first place Camden Riversharks with their 12-7 over the Newark Bears in Newark Wednesday night. Starter Terrell Wade earned the win with six innings of work, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 4. The Surf knocked the August Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month, Brett Billingsley, out of the game with two outs in the fifth. Billingsley allowed 5 runs on 11 hits while striking out 5.

Somerset Holds Off Late Camden Rally

The Camden Riversharks struggles against the Somerset Patriots continued on Wednesday night at Campbell's Field with a 4-3 loss. The Riversharks are now 4-12 against the Patriots in 2004. The Riversharks were unable to plate the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Somerset closer Rob Marquez struck out Quincy Foster and Brad Strauss to end the game. It was the fourth loss in the last five games for Camden, who now stand at 26-19 in the second half.

The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Somerset Patriots, 4-3 in Somerset on Tuesday night. Surf starter Rob Corrado earned the win after pitching 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and striking out 5. Reliever Ned Darley earned the save, his 3rd. Patriots starter Cam Smith struck out 9 Surf batters in his 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits. Chad Ricketts suffered the loss, allowing 2 runs in his 1.1 innings. Surf outfielder Al Benjamin went 4-for-4 and drove in a run. Ben Candelaria and David Housel had an RBI apiece.

The Atlantic City Surf lost in ten innings to the Somerset Patrtiots 3-2 in Somerset on Monday night. The Patriots jumped out to an early lead, 1-0 in the top of the first. The Surf tied the game at one with David Housel's sacrifice fly to score Al Benjamin. In the eighth, Dario Delgado doubled off the left field wall to score Raul Marval and the Surf had a 2-1 lead.
