Bayhawks Dominate the Barrage Philadelphia Lost Their Third Game in a Row to the Bayhawks 31-9 Sunday infront of 3,543 at Johnny Unitas Stadium Sunday, June 12, 2005 By Erin Vosburgh The Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor lacrosse league, faced off against the Baltimore Bayhawks Sunday, June 12 at Johnny Unitas Stadium at 4:00 p.m. The Bayhawks jumped out to a commanding lead of seven to nothing in the first quarter. Goals were scored by Josh Sims, Paul Cantabene, Mikey Powell, Danny Cocchi, and a two-point goal by David Curry. Todd Schriener started in goal for Philadelphia but was replaced by Brian “Doc” Dougherty after the six-goal run for the Bayhawks. |

Thunder Errors Costly in 2-1 Loss Friday, June 10, 2005 By Dan Loney New Britain took advantage of two Thunder errors in the 6th Inning to score a pair runs and beat the Thunder, 2-1, on Friday night in Eastern League play. Trenton (31-29) took a 1-0 lead in the 6th Inning against New Britain starter Francisco Liriano. Kevin Thompson led off with a double, but was picked off 2nd Base. After a two-out walk to Thunder CF Melky Cabrera, a balk by Liriano moved Cabrera to 2nd Base. 1B Shelley Duncan followed with an RBI single for the lead. |

Phantoms are Calder Cup Champions Friday, June 10, 2005 By Al Cohen Jon Sim and Patrick Sharp each scored twice tonight to help the Phantoms complete a four-sweep of the Chicago Wolves with a 5-2 victory in Game Four of the Calder Cup Finals. An AHL playoff-record 20,103 fans attended the game at the Wachovia Center. Antero Niittymaki made 28 saves on 30 shots to earn the win and clinch the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the most valuable player of the 2005 Calder Cup Playoffs. Niittymaki finished the postseason with a 15-5 record and 1.75 goals-against average, including stopping 132-of-136 shots faced against Chicago. |

Thunder Use Seven Extra-Base Hits to Down Erie, 11-2 Tuesday, June 7, 2005 By Dan Loney Ramon Ramirez tossed six shutout innings, while Shelley Duncan added three hits and Kevin Thompson collected three RBI, as Trenton beat Erie, 11-2, on Tuesday night. The win is the fourth straight for the Thunder. In picking up the win, Trenton collected seven doubles and have 31 extra-base hits in their last four games. It is the first time since June 5-7, 2001 that the Thunder scored at least 10 runs in three striaght games. They scored their first two runs in the 2nd Inning on a ground out and fielder's choice against Erie starter Jeremy Johnson. |
