The Lynx Power down the Raiders Saturday, August 20, 2005 By George Brookings When the South Jersey Lynx joined the North American Football League as a new team entering the Eastern Conference North Atlantic Region New Jersey Division, there had to be some speculations about whether another New Jersey football team could win not only against teams from their own division but also other established teams as well. Looking for their fifth win in a row, the Lynx hosted the Trenton Raiders and wasted little time controlling the game. Rodney Larmore scored three rushing, Marty Cross threw three passing touchdowns and the Lynx defense had their way as South Jersey posted a 67-8 win against their division rivals. |

Thunder Win On 12th Inning Homer Thursday, August 18, 2005 By Dan Loney Jason Brown's solo homer in the 12th Inning powered the Thunder to a 2-1 win over Reading on Thursday night. The win keeps the Thunder 1 1/2 games behind New Hampshire for the Northern Division "wild card". Neither team could get any offense going against the starting pitchers. Reading's Josue Matos allowed two singles in six shutout innings with no walks and four strikeouts. Meanwhile, Trenton's Matt DeSalvo allowed two hits in eight shutout innings. He walked one and struck out five. |

Thunder Fall To Reading, 9-3 Tuesday, August 16, 2005 By Dan Loney Reading took advantage of four Thunder errors to score six unearned runs in an 8-1 win over Trenton on Tuesday. The loss, combined with a New Hampshire win, puts Trenton and the Fisher Cats in a 2nd Place tie for the "wild card" in the Northern Division. Michael Bourn started the bottom of the 1st Inning by reaching on a Shelley Duncan error and later scored on a ground out. Both runs for Reading in the 1st Inning scored on ground outs against Thunder starter Calvin Maduro and were unearned. |
