Delsea's Late Push Finally Decides the Match

Saturday, January 21, 2006

By Anthony Phillips
SJSports Special Correspondent

Every team sport has their strategies on how to come away with the win. Wrestling is no different as the decisions of the coach staff could determine the outcome of a match. But no matter what the coach's instructions are, the game or match is decided by the kids' individual efforts on the mat. In a non-league match held at Eastern, the Vikings were hosting the Crusaders from Delsea. With only four points separating these two teams heading into the final bout, the Vikings would be looking for a pin in order to set back Crusader's chances of coming away with the win. But Mike McGaha turned the tables and pinned his opponent to secure the 40-30 decision for Delsea.

With only three losses in fourteen games played, LEAP would get their chance to see how well they would play against the Crusaders from Bishop Eustace. Quickly the Lancers made themselves right at home and pick up their twelfth win of the season. Four players would finish in double figures as the Lancers would cruise to their 98-64 victory.

Friday, January 20, 2006

By Anthony Phillips
SJSports Special Correspondent

What they have done so far was to compile a winning record that has labeled them as one of the top wrestling teams in the state of New Jersey. With individual records at stake, each wrestler has made a personal commitment to come away with the win for the team.
