Highland had won six of their last seven games and was looking to end the regular season on a winning note. The Tigers from South Plainfield would be their opponent and a slow start didn't faze the Tartans mission. Wednesday, February 22, 2006

By Mike Thornton
Philadelphia Phantoms Correspondent

The Phantoms are coming off a weekend where they went beyond regulation twice and lost both efforts in a shootout. On Wednesday night against Binghamton, they didn't let it get that far, as Alexandre Picard finished off the Senators with his second of the night, 3-2 in overtime. The Senators notched both of their goals on the power play, with the first propelling the visitors to an early lead. Steve Martins seized a rebound opportunity to the left of Phantoms backstop Martin Houle at 6:22 of the first. It stayed that way until 8:06 of the second, as Josh Gratton tied his career high-water mark in goals with his ninth of the campaign. Gratton rushed from the Phantoms blueline and into the Sens zone before unleashing a slapper from the right wing circle.

By Joyce Sagerty
SJSports Special Correspondent

There's always a plan on how an opponent can be defeat on the basketball court. The coaching staff works on trying to exploit the weakness of a team in an effort to give their team an edge. When the Lady Quakers from Moorestown traveled to Collingswood to take on the Panthers, both teams would be looking to overcome their opponent's game plan. But one team, the Quakers, used the halftime break to execute a defensive plan that kept Collingswood off the scoreboard during the third quarter. From that point on, Moorestown would rally and defeat the Panthers by a 40-35 margin.

Christian Biscardi scored with six minutes left in the game as Washington Township rallied to defeat Cherokee 5-4 in a battle of two undefeated teams in the double elimination tournament. With the win Township now moves into the finals, Cherokee will face Moorestown and the winner will play Township for the championship. This was a playoff game that had everything you want, hard hitting, great goaltending, end-to-end action and minimal penalties, and played in front of a packed house. Cherokee jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period scoring two goals in less than a minute, first Justin Kinniry scored on a short-handed breakaway, then at the end of the power play, Matt Cardillo scored on a breakaway and just seven minutes into the game and a 2-0 lead it looked like Cherokee was going to run away from Township.
