By Charlie Schick
South Jersey Baseball Historical Society

By Charlie Schick
South Jersey Baseball Historical Society

Throughout baseball history, there have been a number of great strikeout pitchers, but few if any, have ever averaged two strikeouts per innings pitched over an entire season. He ended up averaging 1.98 strikeouts per inning in his senior season.

By Charlie Schick
South Jersey Baseball Historical Society

On Saturday April 25, 1964, Edgewood High's Les Fulleylove joined Fran Dale, Holy Spirit (1945), and John Buyarski, St. James (1952) as the only pitchers to ever author a scholastic baseball perfect game when he pitched his teammates to a 1-0 victory over West Deptford High. The lean southpaw with excellent control allowed only two batters to even hit the ball, as he recorded 19 strikeouts of the seven inning game's 21 outs.

The Dominant Pitchers

Monday, April 24, 2000

By Charlie Schick
South Jersey Baseball Historical Society

When one looks for the best of the great major league pitchers with the most season victories, they have to go all the way back to the early part of the century. Chesbro started 51 games that year, and relieved in 4, as he appeared in a total of 55 games.
