Total Training for Young Champions Winning Ways (FYI):
Total Training For Young Champions

Written by Tudor Bompa, a man I have a great deal of respect for, this book touches on many different components that go into a good training program. While going through the book, I was surprised. I thought the book would be written in a voice that would be comprehended by its target audience (6 to 18 year olds). It's not. This book is geared for parents and coaches who aren't conditioning coaches but may want to be.

"Total Training for Young Champions" provides almost 300 exercises dealing with athletes from all ability levels. Mr. Bompa's training regimen offers sport-specific training programs in 11 sports, including baseball, basketball, ice hockey and football.

Don't get me wrong, this book is informative and in the right situation will enhance the development of some athletes, but with all the game preparations coaches must do this book may not allow them to best serve the needs of his or her athletes.

If you are a youth sport coach who is leaning towards becoming a strength and conditioning coach this book is for you, if you are a youth coach looking for drills to help your team, you might want to keep looking.
