Lancers LEAP Past Salem and into the S.J. Group I Finals

Everything is set, so clear your schedule for one of the most anticipated match-ups in our area. For the first time in their school's history, the Lancers from LEAP Academy advanced to the Group I finals with their 85-70 victory over Salem played at Woodrow Wilson High School. The finals will feature the number one seeded Lancers going up against the high flying Blue Devils from Burlington City who defeated Riverside to advance to the finals that will be held on Tuesday at 7 pm at Clearview. The Lancers would go on a 14-4 run over a two minute period during the second quarter that finally broke this game wide open. Lance James would lead the Lancers in scoring with 25 points.

Salem Decides Outcome during Final Quarter

Saturday's match-up between Salem and Overbrook turned out to be exactly what each team's nickname represented. For three quarters, both teams were striking against each other with a heavy and forceful impact. Driving and forcing passage in order to plow through to get into a designated place. There are various definitions for the word Ram and Salem and Overbrook were demonstrated that word for the entire game. This Tri-Country Conference game was deadlocked at fourteen apiece at the start of the fourth quarter. Brandon Robbins would score his second touchdown of the day to break that tie and eventually lead the Salem Rams to a 29-14 victory over the Overbrook Rams.

Gloucester Back in Group 1 Finals

It's something that the Gloucester field hockey team has gotten use to, which is making it to the South Jersey Group 1 finals. For the past five years, the Lady Lions have been making it a habit showing up in four out of the past five years battling for the title. Gloucester will meet a familiar opponent in the finals all due to the 2-1 win over Salem in the semifinals. The Lions will be taking on St. Joseph for the third year in a row.

Salem Falls Quickly at Highland

Highland has gotten off to a quick start this season posting a very respectable 5-1-1 record in the Tri-County Conference Royal Division. With the Salem Rams boy's soccer team into town, the Tartans knew if they played well early, they could dominated the struggling Rams and not give them any momentum to build on. Using their speed and determination, the Tartans kept the pressure on the defenders looking for that momentum. Sean Mergenthal took care of that early in the game when his goal quickly put Highland ahead and eventually on their way to a 5-1 victory.

Rams Win! Rams Win!

On a day when the Overbrook High School Rams played against the Salem High School Rams, this headline wouldn't go wrong. But on a day that saw both teams compete for every inch of the field, the headline just doesn't tell the story. Salem playing without one of its biggest guns Lamont Robinson, who is on the road to recovery from an auto accident suffered over the summer, had to find a way to replace all that he brings to the team. Coach Lindenmuth didn't find one replacement, he found a group of guys who were fully prepared to step up and accept the challenge that not having Robinson in the lineup presented.
