The Vineland Lynx Boys Under-16 soccer team won their division at the 12th Annual Vineland Memorial Day Tournament. Their record was 2 wins, no losses, and one tie. Vineland began with a 3-0 victory over Atlantic United. The next game against Lawrenceville was a close contest. Goals by Steve Ganci and Jason Putmon sealed the victory. Rick Adams and Mike VonSuskil were excellent on defense and Lynx goalie Dan Sepers earned his second shutout of the tournament.

The final game was a rematch with last year's champion Lanco United (from Lancaster County, PA). Bryan Berry started the scoring for the Lynx. Lanco tied the score on a direct kick several minutes later. A goal by Michael Cheyne put Vineland ahead again. Lanco tied the game on a breakaway goal near the end of the match. Both teams tried to secure the winning goal, but time had expired. The Lynx earned the championship on tiebreaking criteria. "It was exactly the same situation as last year," said coach Lou Sepers. "Both teams finished with the same record and tied each other head to head. Last year they (Lanco) won the tiebraker and this year we (Vineland) won it. You don't get better competition that that."
