Lynx Capture Under-16 Boys Division At Vineland Tournament

The Vineland Lynx Boys Under-16 soccer team won their division at the 12th Annual Vineland Memorial Day Tournament. Their record was 2 wins, no losses, and one tie. Vineland began with a 3-0 victory over Atlantic United. The next game against Lawrenceville was a close contest. Goals by Steve Ganci and Jason Putmon sealed the victory. Rick Adams and Mike VonSuskil were excellent on defense and Lynx goalie Dan Sepers earned his second shutout of the tournament.

Hurricanes Three-Peat At Vineland Tournament

The Vineland Hurricanes roared back from a lackluster first half deficit to capture the Under-13 Boys Division of the 12th Annual Vineland Memorial Tournament. The Canes had won their age group in the previous two years against the Pittsgrove Vipers (1998) and the Medford Striker Sharks (1999). This year's challenger was the Cohansey Attack from Deerfield, NJ.

Spectre Go Undefeated But Fall Short In Tournament

The Vineland Spectre went into the Vineland Memorial Day Soccer Tournament with high hopes and despite going undefeated, failed to make the finals. The Spectre tied Yardley PA 2 to 2 and beat Franklinville 3 to 1 on the first day of competition. Derrick Knowles and Alfie Latorre contributed two goals apiece and Martino Lasalandra had one. Defensive standouts for Vineland were Matt Morris and Josh Bocker, as goalie Chris Nettle continued his excellent play.

Tigersharks Post Upset To Kickoff Memorial Day Tournament

The Vineland Tigersharks (under 11 boys traveling team) played the first game of the 12th Annual Tournament at 8 am on Saturday. Before game time, they sat through an emotional dedication ceremony to one of their teammates, Aaron Ploch. Aaron had passed away earlier in the season due to a viral infection that attacked his vital organs. The Tigersharks have dedicated this Spring 2000 season to his memory. Youth soccer players in South Jersey can remember the bright-eyed, energetic, young boy with a memorial plaque that Vineland Soccer Association placed at their Main Soccer Complex.

Vineland Is Gearing Up For Memorial Day Tournament

The Vineland Soccer Association is gearing up for its 12th Annual Memorial Day Tournament on May 27, 28, and 29, 2000. Over 135 traveling soccer teams from across New Jersey, Pennsylvannia, Delaware, Maryland and New York will be converging on Vineland, NJ for this event. Things are really happening around the Vineland Soccer Complex located at Spring Rd. and Maple Ave.
