Toronto Rock Rolls Over Philadelphia, Wings Drop To Second Place In NLL

PHILADELPHIA - In a battle for first place, the Philadelphia Wings fell to the Toronto Rock, 11-7, Saturday at the First Union Center in front of 13,485 fans. The Rock took the lead in the second quarter and never looked back. The Wings were without top scorer Tom Marechek, who was out with a sprained shoulder. The Wings record now stands at 6-3, while the Rock improve to 8-3.

Anderson Leads Township To Championship

Buddy Anderson scored two goals as Washington Township defeated Clearview 5-2 in the third and deciding game of the SJHSIHL championship. It was Township's first championship since 1996 which gave Coach Steve Brown the title in his first year as head coach. After spotting Clearview a 2-0 lead on goals by Mike Gooch and Ryan Arnold, Anderson scored Township's first two goals on power plays to tie the score at 2-2. The first goal he went end-to-end after goalie Adam Sezchech fed him the puck and beat Wiesenbach on the short side.

Second Straight South Jersey Group 3 Title For The Panthers

The Camden High Panthers got the job done, it wasn't spectacular but they got the job done. In a South Jersey Group 3 championship against Middle Township at Eastern High School, the Panthers were clearly the favorites in this game. Dajuan Wagner and the Panthers woke up and finally put away a close game with a 57-46 win. The first half of this game was a very low scoring event that seemed to give Middle Township and their fans the momentum.

Anderson's Goal In OT Helps Township Tie Series

Buddy Anderson scored less than two minutes into the first overtime as Washington Township defeated Clearview 5-4. That win evened the championship series at one game apiece. The third and deciding game will be played Wednesday night at 7:00 at Hollydell. Mike Gooch paced the Clearview attack scoring a hat trick. The game started out as a defensive struggle with both teams taking few chances, but Clearview capitalized on a turnover with Township on the power play. Gooch intercepted a clearing pass and scored an unassisted short-handed goal seven minutes into the game.
