West Berlin Fire Company Holds Charity Softball Event

Just two weeks ago, the West Berlin Fire Company held a charity softball game for the families of the Gloucester City fire disaster. Fire Chief Joe Jackson, Jr. organized the game featuring the West Berlin Fire Company against a contingent from the Flyers and Phantom hockey teams.

The 2001-02 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Philadelphia KiXX announced the acquisition of All-Star defender Glenn Carbonara from the Milwaukee Wave today. As per club policy, the amount is undisclosed. The Vineland, NJ native played his college career at Rutgers University, where he led the Scarlet Knights to the Final Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 1988.

The 2001-02 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Philadelphia KiXX open training camp Tuesday, September 3, in preparation of the 2002-03 title-defending season. Training camp is held at Tri-State Sports Complex in Aston, PA. The camp runs Monday through Saturday, each day beginning at 11:00 AM.

The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the East Coast Hockey League signed free agent center Paul Spadafora, it was announced today by Bullies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Mike Haviland. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Last season, the 23-year old from Hamilton, Ontario, played 52 games with the Florida Everblades, recording 27 points on nine goals and 18 assists. In six playoff games with the 'Blades, Spadafora contributed five points on two goals and three assists and racked up 26 penalty minutes.

The Philadelphia Phantoms today announced that proceeds from their fund-raising efforts during the 2002-03 season will be dedicated to the National Adoption Center. Since 1972, the NAC, a private, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, has found families for more than 19,000 children across the United States.

TBAA Soccer Tournament 2002

A total of 106 soccer teams converged on 14 Valley Brook & Glen Landing Soccer fields the weekend of August 23rd, 24th and 25th to participate in the Timberbirch Broadmoor Athletic Association (TBAA) tournament. Everyone was a winner. Players had nothing but soccer, soccer and more soccer everywhere you looked. Parents and family were all cheering there favorite teams on. When the kids were done there games, they treated themselves by grabbing freeze pops to cool off.
