Red Devils Win Thriller Against Cherry Hill East

Before a packed gymnasium at Cherry Hill East, the standing room only fans were treated to an afternoon of exciting basketball that those South Jersey Group 4 playoffs have become famous for. On this afternoon, the Rancocas Valley Red Devils topped the Cherry Hill East Cougars by 1 point, 35-34, in an entertaining South Jersey Group 4 semi-final contest.

Michael Cianfrani Skates With Heart

Whether it's on blades or on wheels, Michael Cianfrani loves to play hockey. This Eastern Regional High School Junior has played hockey for the past 3 years as a center, and aspires to play college hockey for Notre Dame. If he's not playing hockey, he spends much of his time working out to keep conditioned and strong.

JV Championships Go To Cherokee And West Deptford

Cherokee rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat JVB top seed Triton in a shootout 5-4 in the first game of a championship doubleheader played at the Medford Ice Rink. After goals by Reeves, Skomsky and Dornish gave Triton a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes, it seemed that Triton was in complete control.

Moorestown Wins Close One Against Pleasantville

All things considered, the quarterfinal match up between the Moorestown Quakers and the Pleasantville Greyhounds had all the drama of a championship game. Just as expected, this was not an easy game for either team as they battled for 4 quarters. The Greyhounds, led by Dujuan McNair, jumped out to early leads in each quarter. Moorestown had several advantages, like playing at home and playing in front of their hometown faithful. Matt Pedrick converted on his free throws late in the game and held off Pleasantville for a 79-78 victory to advance to the semifinals against Gloucester.

SJHSIHL Finals Are Set: Lenape vs. Eastern

It doesn't happen too often in sports when the top two teams during the regular season meet in the finals. Usually one team is upset and the finals are anti-climatic. Well in the case of the finals in the SJHSIHL, you have the teams that finished at the top in Eastern and Lenape. Even for the casual fan, this will be an entertaining series to see.

Keppler And Cianfrani Lead Eastern To Sweep Over Township

Eastern defeated Washington Township 5-3 and now advances to the finals to face Lenape for the championship of the SJHSIHL varsity division. Goalie Mike Keppler turned aside 37 of 40 shots and Mike Cianfrani had two goals and an assist to pace the Vikings. Derek Poletis led Township with two goals.

Shawnee Heats Up In Final Quarter To Advance In Playoffs

No one told the Cherokee Chiefs to lay down and let the Shawnee Renegades beat them just because they lost to them during the regular season. The Renegades were expected to just dominate Cherokee in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 boys basketball tournament. Shawnee watched the Chiefs hit everything they threw up to the basket in the first quarter to show the visiting crowd they came to play ball. But Shawnee didn't disappoint the home crowd as they shut down Cherokee's offense late in the game and came away with a 66-45 victory. The Renegades advance to the next round of the playoffs against Highland.

Lenape Sweeps Clearview, Advances To SJHSIHL Finals

At the Medford Ice Rink, the Lenape Indians faced off against the Clearview Pioneers in game two of the SJHSIHL semi-finals. The Indians defeated the Pioneers 4-0 to advance to the finals. The Lenape offense was led by Rick Salvador and Jeff Bagnoli, with each picking up a goal and one assist in the victory. Sean Sheehan picked up his third shutout of the playoffs.

Bagnoli and Reed Pace Lenape To Win

Jeff Bagnoli and Jerry Reed each scored two goals as Lenape defeated Clearview 5-2 in the first game of the semi-finals in the SJHSIHL varsity playoffs. Jim Davis gave the Indians a 1-0 lead midway through the first period with Jon Bianco assisting, with both teams having two players in the penalty box. Clearview's strength most of the season has been good defense and hard-hitting, but on this night they seemed tentative and did not use the body as much as they have all year.

Vikings Rally To Shock Township In Semi-final Opener

Adam Levenson scored on a breakaway with six seconds left to cap a four-goal rally as Eastern stunned Washington Township 7-6 in the first game in the semi-final round of the SJHSIHL varsity playoffs. Being without two of their top players, the Vikings were led by Levenson who not only notched a hat trick but also was a force on defense. Scoring two goals each were Jason Knee and Bob Ianni.
