Collingswood Patiently Sticks To Game Plan

Friday, May 5, 2006

By Stephanie Wright
SJSports Special Correspondent

West Deptford was very impressive with their defense during the early moments of their game against the Lady Panthers from Collingswood. Rachel Mehaffey helped the Eagles jump out to an early two goal lead and knew that the entire team would have to continue to play at a high level against a very successful Lady Panthers team. Collingswood, after coming up short scoring a goal on their first five shot attempts, continued to apply pressure on West Deptford's defense and was rewarded by scoring eight straight goals and pull away from a determined Eagles team. Collingswood would pick up their tenth win in a row with their 18-7 victory.

Hilt Does It All for West Deptford

Friday, May 5, 2006

By Jason Brown
SJSports Special Correspondent

Baseball can be a very interesting game where sometimes the bounces on the field just don't go your way. When those times occur, the main focus is to just get the outs in order to get through an inning. On the other side of the players' bench, there's a different feeling that the players don't want it to end. In a Colonial Conference game played at Audubon, the high flying Eagles from West Deptford were the recipients of everything going right for them. Starting pitcher Justin Hilt drove in seven runs with his bat and West Deptford cruised to a 22-6 win over Audubon.

Moorestown Continues to Accept the Challenges

Wednesday, May 3, 2006

By Stephanie Wright
SJSports Special Correspondent

It was suppose to be one of their toughest games of the season, but all of the indications on the field showed that the Lady Quakers from Moorestown were clearly the better team. The Lady Gators from Seton Keough, located in Maryland, were nationally ranked as the twenty-fifth team found themselves faced with a relentless and defensive minded Quakers team. Seton Keough had won three of their last four games and was looking to pick up their third win in a row. Moorestown's first goal of the just about a minute into this game was the first of seven goals scored during the first half. It would be the first of six goals that Brooke Cantwell would score helping Moorestown improve their record to 10-0 on the season with their 16-2 victory.

Chain Comes Through For Gloucester

Monday, May 1, 2006

By Joyce Sagerty
SJSports Special Correspondent

Here we go again! Another year has past and teams are enjoying the spring time weather we were having but an important date would trump any enjoyment of sunny skies. The cutoff date to qualify for the postseason tournament was less than two weeks away. Pitman, one of the teams hovering around the qualifying win/loss ratio, had to find a way of scoring against freshman pitcher Taylor Chain and the Lady Lions from Gloucester. The Lions' offense would provide enough run support early on and Gloucester would continue to remain amongst the leaders of the Tri-County Conference Classic Division with their 7-1 over Pitman.
