Edgewood's Boys Getting On Track

Friday, May 14, 1999

By Greg Cappello
SJSports Special Correspondent

Edgewood's boys track team is battling for the conference championship. After a disappointingly close loss to Overbrook on May 5th, the team is one win away from a three way tie. There is only one thing that stands in the way of the guys in green: Highland High School. Because Highland is undefeated and both Edgewood and Overbrook have one loss, a loss by Highland would set up the three way tie. Edgewood will have to rely on every single one of its team members. The runners, jumpers, and throwers will certainly have to be at their best to top Highland.

In the girl's Division I, Liesje Cardillo captured the individual 100, 200 and long jump titles, Alexis DiSalvio won the 100 and 400 hurdles, and Kelly Fox and Kerin Sulock place first and second respectively in the high jump, all for the Crusaders. The boys placed in 11 of the 14 events. The Edgewood girls captured the Division II title while Highland won the Division II boy's title.
