The seventh seeded Edgewood Eagles entered the South Jersey Group 3 softball playoffs with an uphill battle. Knowing they needed to win two tough games, the Lady Eagles would climb that hill and reach the finals against the number one seeded Cumberland Colts. Both teams traveled to Eastern High School in search of the Group 3 championship, but Cumberland scored three runs in the bottom to the third inning to pull away and defeat Edgewood 6-3. The Lady Colts now will advance to the state semifinals against Middletown South on Tuesday at Middlesex County College.

By: Lindsay Creaney

"There's no crying in softball", may be a very commonly used phrase among ball players, but for Edgewood's girls softball team, this statement needs some adjusting. This is the last year Edgewood will ever have a softball team, so the girls this year are working hard to go out on top! This fourteen - player team began practicing for their season early March led by four captains; Sr. Lindsay Creaney, Sr. Dianna Henhaffer, Sr. Kristin Wolf, and Jr. Alexis Switenko.

He traveled to Wisconsin and Michigan State, then Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The warm weather is what he was looking for and he never made it to Penn State. Aaron visited Rhode Island, Rutgers and Delaware. He will make his official visit to Central Michigan this weekend. Both players were glad that this was over.

Tuesday, January 9, 2001

By Boog Williams
SJSports Staff Writer

On Tuesday, Dajuan Wagner and the top ranked Camden Panthers tapped off against the Eagles of Edgewood. The stands were packed, with standing room only. Both sides of the court bleachers were pulled out for the spectators and every seat was taken. An announcement was made that you probably should not leave your seat at half time because it might not be there for you when you came back. DaJuan scored 52 points (5 from 3 point land), but it was a sloppy 52 (if you could believe it) in Camden's 85 to 64 win.

Coach Sellers Quiets Critics With Convincing Win

Saturday, October 28, 2000

By Art Redd
SJSports Staff Writer

Edgewood took a giant step forward in proving they were not just your ordinary undefeated team. With anger in their eyes, the Eagles were ready to take on a team that skeptics said they had to beat and again prove themselves. Camden Catholic went on the road to Winslow Township sporting their 5-1 record against the 6-0 Eagles. "Finally, maybe people will give us the respect we deserve", mentioned Coach Derryk Sellers. Edgewood were well prepared to pass that test of could they compete against a good team during their "soft" schedule. Coach Sellers' Eagles dominated the Irish and hammered them 43-14 with a defense that was on a serious mission.

Edgewood Tennis Update

Wednesday, October 11, 2000

By Andrea Johnson

The week started out well on Tuesday with a 5-0 win against Palmyra. Highlights of the match include wins by Alexis Switenko, Kristin Wolf, and Cassandra Young who stepped up to fill the third singles position. This win wasn't like any other because it came with bragging rights. You see, Palmyra's coach just happens to be the Edgewood Ladies own coach's brother. The rivalry between the two coaching brothers has been going on for years, and this might have been the final time to settle the score. With Mr. Mack (Edgewood's coach) going to a new school after dissolution, the future of the rivalry is not certain at this point.
