![]() Fairlawn Captures Viking Invitational Saturday, April 13, 2002 By John Daglian The 7th annual Viking invitational Boys Volleyball tournament was held at Eastern High School. This tournament normally features several of the top schools in the state. This year was no exception as 7 of the top 15 schools attended. The first pool consisted of Eastern (#4), Fairlawn (#2), Cherry Hill West, Wayne Hills (#6) and West Windsor South. The second pool contained Cherry Hill East (#9), East Brunswick (#8), Bridgewater (#15), St. Peters (#11) and Hackensack. |
![]() 4th Annual Olympic Conference Senior Game Friday, November 19, 2001 By John Daglian It was a night of stars at Eastern Regional High School Monday as they hosted the fourth Olympic Senior game. The game was played before nearly 200 fans. This game gives the seniors a chance to show case their individual skills and more importantly have a lot of fun in the process. The game had representatives from all of the Olympic Conference teams. A total of 45 seniors attended and participated in the match. |
![]() Eastern Takes Group IV State Volleyball Title Becomes First South Jersey Team To Win State Title Saturday, November 17, 2001 By John Daglian William Patterson University in Wayne, NJ was sight where history would occur last night. The Eastern Lady Vikings, the #3 seed, were facing the Hunterdon Central Red Devils, the #1 seed, for the Group IV State Volleyball crown. No matter who won, it would be the first time in state history that a team from either the central or southern part of the state could lay claim to the words "state champs" in volleyball. Over 400 spectators would cheer the teams on. |

Each had won a match and each had won a single game. This fifth meeting, in the NJSIAA Group IV Semi-Finals, would mean everything. ![]() Moorestown Takes Playoff Meeting Against Bishop Ahr Wednesday, November 7, 2001 By Duva Rider The first round of the South Jersey Group 2 playoffs began at Moorestown High School were the sixth seeded Lady Quakers were hosting the eleventh seeded Bishop Ahr. Moorestown got a quick start in the first game of this match, but finally put away their opponent to win the match in two games. Rachel Johnston had five service points and 14 assists, Kerry Krauss came up big defensively and Jill DiMedio had five service points, six kills, and three blocks. |
![]() Fifth Annual Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament Held at Cherry Hill East Saturday, October 27, 2001 By John Daglian Cherry Hill East High School hosted their fifth annual Junior Varsity Volleyball tournament on Saturday October 27th. Sixteen teams from 11 schools would participate in this year's event. As the girl's season concludes this week, this type of tournament gives the younger players a tremendous opportunity to gain valuable experience. The format divided the teams into three pools. Two pools had five teams and one pool had six teams. Each team would play the other teams in their pool twice. The teams with the best records in each pool would advance to the semi-finals. Additionally, the team with the best second place record would be given the final semi-final spot. |
High School Volleyball: Cougars Take Conference Lead - Stop Vikings Monday, October 8, 2001 By John Daglian The much anticipated match between the Eastern Lady Vikings and the Cherry Hill East Lady Cougars took place in Cherry Hill. These teams have shared the conference title the last two seasons and are on track to battle for that title once more. The Cougars entered the match undefeated. The Vikings had only one non-conference loss to Hunterdon Central on the road. These teams were eager to finish what they started almost one month ago at the Viking Invitational when the match was called due to an electrical problem. |
High School Volleyball: Viking Invitational Has Strange Ending No Power Equals No Winner Saturday, September 15, 2001 By John Daglian The 7th annual Viking Invitational Girl's Volleyball tournament was held at Eastern High School on Saturday September 15th. This tournament normally features several of the top Group 4 schools in the state. However, in light of the recent events three teams were unable to attend. In order to maintain two 5 team pools, Eastern entered three teams and Cherry Hill East entered two teams. |
