![]() Rutgers-Camden's Stewart, Salamon, Puleo Capture NJAC Men's Cross Country Honors Saturday, October 28, 2006 By Mike Ballard Sophomore Travis Stewart and freshman Jonathan Salamon became the first Rutgers University-Camden men's cross country runners to earn All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors and Head Coach Joe Puleo was named the NJAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year at the NJAC Cross Country Championships here Saturday at Richard Stockton College. Stewart and Salamon, who each earned All-NJAC Second Team honors by finishing eighth and 14th, respectively, led the Rutgers-Camden men to a fifth-place finish in the conference meet with 107 points. It was the best finish ever for the Raptors since they started competing in the NJAC meet in 1992. |

With a win against the Storm, South Jersey will earn a berth in next week's championship game in Orlando, Florida. But one step at a time is all the Lynx are thinking about, and it starts against a formidable foe in the (11-1) Storm, who come in as the Southern Conference champions. The Lynx have done it the hard way when you consider the events that transpired last Saturday night in Williamstown, NJ. With their hopes and dreams pinning on the outcome of a game against their most heated and hated rivals, South Jersey showed once again why they are the definition of heart and soul. |
![]() Rutgers Camden's Lady Raptors Honored Again Friday, October 27, 2006 By Hugh Tsung On May of 2006, the Rutgers University softball team made history and the university community proud for winning the 2006 NCAA Division III softball title. It was the first time in Rutgers history that an athletic team won national championship. While the Team was formally crowned the title, there were still some awards to pass. Each player was not given her well-deserved New Jersey Athletic Conference Title Trophies. Wednesday, October 18, there was once again a celebration. This time on the heart of the Rutgers Camden Campus during the free period where all students can come and witness each softball player receive her long awaited trophy. |
![]() Second Half Surge Pushes Holy Cross Ahead Thursday, October 26, 2006 By Stephanie Wright Two teams that have already secured a seed in the upcoming NJSIAA state tournament were Northern Burlington and Holy Cross. Today, they had an opportunity to compete in an inter-division Burlington County League field hockey game. For one half of this classic match up, neither team had an advantage on the scoreboard at intermission. Taking advantage of their situations, the Lady Lancers would score the only goals of the second half and posted a 3-1 victory over Northern Burlington. Lauren Hadam scored twice for Holy Cross. |

Each year it seems as if there's no more run to put on display but someone will find a way to make room for another symbol representing a team's accomplishments. Haddonfield's girls' soccer team were completing against the Lady Green Wave at Audubon High School. It wasn't an easy game, but two second half goals finally decided the outcome. The Lady Bulldawgs went up against a determine Audubon squad and picked up the win to claim their fourth straight Colonial Conference Liberty Division championship. |
![]() Moorestown Defeats Holy Cross in a Battle between Leaders Tuesday, October 24, 2006 By Susan Hall You couldn't help but notice that the game between the Lady Quakers from Moorestown and the Lady Lancers from Holy Cross would be something special. These two teams represented field hockey programs that have successfully rolled through their schedule compiling win after win. Their accomplishments during the regular season have rewarded them with championships from their perspective division in the Burlington County League. But today, each team would put away their recent success and completed on the field in an inter-league game. Moorestown would strike first in this game and never looked back from that point on. The Lady Quakers would post the 3-0 lead and pick up another win against a very good team. |
![]() Mellon lifts DeSales Volleyball Team to Sweep at Rutgers-Camden Tuesday, October 24, 2006 By Mike Ballard Freshman outside hitter Jen Mellon collected 11 kills, 12 assists, three service aces and seven digs to lead the DeSales University women's volleyball team to a three-game sweep over Rutgers University-Camden in a non-conference match here Tuesday. DeSales won by scores of 30-17, 31-29 and 30-24. The Bulldogs improve to 10-19, snapping a three-match losing streak. Rutgers-Camden closes its season with a 6-17 record. DeSales also received 15 assists, two aces and five digs from junior Gia Zimmerman, while sophomore Rachel Koury notched 10 digs. Juniors Molly Motley and Allie Boyer collected seven and six kills, respectively. |
![]() Kinniry Scores Twice as Cherokee Blanks East Monday, October 23, 2006 By Mike Costantino Justin Kinniry scored two goals and Doug Ball stopped all 20 shots as Cherokee defeated Cherry Hill East 4-0 in Tier 1 action played in Voorhees. After a scoreless first period, Kinniry got Cherokee going as he picked off an errant clearing pass in the East end and slid a backhander along the ice for 1-0 lead. The goal came in the middle of a Cherry Hill power play. Cherokee took advantage on their power play midway through the period as Tom Paradise scored with Zach McCarty getting the assist. Cherokee continued the offensive pressure, but East goalie Mike London made several great saves to keep his team close. |
![]() Haines and Osterdahl key Williamstown Win Monday, October 23, 2006 By Mike Costantino Having come off two straight ties, Williamstown got back on the winning track as they handed Moorestown their first defeat, holding on for a 5-4 win at the Skate Zone in Voorhees on Monday night. Williamstown goaltender Josh Haines stopped 48 shots and Justin Osterdahl netted a hat trick. After the team traded goals in the first period, Ben Smith scoring the first of his two goals for Moorestown and Doug Akin getting the equalizer for Williamstown, Osterdahl gave Williamstown the lead early in the second period on a nice set-up from Vincent Agnesino. |
![]() Township Merciless in Rout over Rancocas Monday, October 23, 2006 By Mike Costantino Washington Township rolled over Rancocas Valley 13-0 on Monday night in a game where neither coach was aware that the mercy rule was that once a team has a ten goal lead, the game is over. Fortunately a league official came over and halted the game, but its troubling to think that neither bench was aware of the rule. As for the game Christian Biscardi led the offense with five goals and Tom Dispaldo added a goal and five assists. |
![]() Raptor of the Week: Ryan Evans Monday, October 23, 2006 By Mike Ballard Junior Ryan Evans continued to step up for the Rutgers-Camden men's soccer team as the Scarlet Raptors posted a pair of ties on the road against national powers this week. Evans, who plays both fullback and forward, was part of the Raptors' defensive unit which shut down powerful Franklin & Marshall College in a 0-0 tie Oct. 18. A few days later, he notched the tying goal with 3:24 remaining in regulation to help Rutgers-Camden tie Ramapo College, 1-1, Oct. 22. It was Evans' second late-game tying goal of the season. On Sept. 20 at Rowan, his goal with 1:01 left in regulation helped the Raptors gain a 2-2 tie. |
