During this cool, breezy, autumn day, five simultaneous tennis matches, two doubles matches and three singles matches, took place at Washington Lake Park, Sewell, NJ for the girls' regular tennis season. It was the ladies from Washington Township hosting the Renegades from Shawnee playing in an Olympic Confernce match. Shawnee were the winners on this day by defeating Township by a 3 to 2 score.

Lady Rams Defeats Sister School In Girl's Tennis

On a beautiful fall day at Overbrook Senior High, with a Junior Varsity football game being played in the background, the elegant sport of tennis was on display. Sister schools squared off when the Overbrook Lady Rams took on the Winslow Lady Eagles. Winslow's coach John Tutoro, who spent 15 year as an assistant to Overbrook coach Jeff Mack (when Winslow was known as Edgewood), was unsuccessful in his first bid at beating his former head coach getting swept 5 matches to 0.

On Saturday, the Lady Rams tennis team of Overbrook took a trip to Pennsauken, and came home victorious. Pennsauken High School held a carnival on Saturday September 22. The school held tournaments for all sports, including tennis. Overbrook, Camden, and Woodrow Wilson were invited to join Pennsauken in an exciting day.

Dissolving the Lower Camden County District, changing the high school name, and receiving new coaches didn't keep this team off the tennis court! The "Lady Rams" tennis team, of Pine Hill, will play their first varsity game as Overbrook Senior High.

Next Stop, The Finals For A Young Star

On a day that saw heat that would make a camel beg for water, Brianna Brown of Pennsauken, played with all the coolness of a polar bear. Competing in The Art McAlway Memorial Tournament at Mill Creek Park in Willingboro NJ, Miss Brown traded ground strokes and games with Miss Karrissa Bendijo of Atlantic City NJ. The match saw the two athletes start out a little slow, both athletes waiting for the other to make the mistake. Brianna's steady forehand, that has been know to make others wilt under the heat, helped her win the first set 6-3.
