Friday, May 4, 2007

By Susan Hall
SJSports Special Correspondent

With that being said, no lead is safe no matter what inning the game is played in. The Lady Braves from Williamstown has been playing well this season and continues to win games keeping them among the leaders of the Tri-County Conference Royal Division. Not that far behind was the Tartans from Highland who held a two run lead heading into the final inning. That's when Williamstown finally produced some runs during the top of the seventh and rallied to defeat Highland by a 4-2 margin.

Williamstown Takes Advantage on their Chances

Friday, September 29, 2006

After a closely played first half, Williamstown would put this game away during the second half. The Braves would pick up the 4-0 win and remain above the five hundred percentage mark for the season. Saturday, September 23, 2006

For nearly the entire four quarters of Williamstown's football game at Highland, the defense had an answer in stopping the Tartans from scoring any points. The Braves would build a ten point advantage with less than a minute remaining and it appeared as if they would pick up their second win in a row. But a touchdown reception and the recovery of an onside kick setup Highland's last chance drive and attempt to pull out a victory at home. Williamstown's defense would come up big again with an interception and run off the final seconds of the game. With their 10-7 win, the Braves will remain on top of the Tri-County Conference Royal Division.

There has to be a lot said about a team that has not won a single game during the regular season and has loss their starting goalie. So when the Braves from Williamstown took the ice against Lenape in a Tier I first round playoff game, on paper it appeared that this game would be an easy win for Williamstown. And it would start out that way when twenty seconds into the game, Thomas Ruiz's difficult angle goal from behind the net gave Williamstown the lead. Another goal during the second period pushed that lead even further. During this entire game, the Braves attempted shot after shot after shot that John Hood put himself in front of. But the two goals that got pass were more than enough for Williamstown to advance to the next round.

The Braves Get Running Game to Work

Saturday, September 17, 2005

There's always that debate amongst fans about which part of a football team really decides the outcome of a game. Sure the quarterback gets most of the credit handing the ball to the runningbacks or passing it to a receiver. Then there's the discussion about the defense and their ability to stop the opposing offense. So when Williamstown traveled to Gloucester to take on the Rams from Gloucester Catholic, it was those guys in the trenches that really made the difference in this game. The offensive line for the Braves allowed Tyrone Pouncy and Mark Masterson to rush for two touchdowns against Gloucester Catholic. The defense allowed only one first half touchdown and Williamstown picked up the victory by a 26-8 margin for an opening day win.
