The All-Star game was held at the Luke Avenue Sports Complex in West Berlin - home of the 1999 League Champion West Berlin Fire Company. What a great day for the Home Run Derby and the Game, as the sun was shining.

PRESS RELEASE

The Firefighters of the Camden County Softball League are inviting everyone to come out to enjoy the 33rd All-Star Game of the Camden County Firefighters Softball League on July 8, 2000.

The events will be held at the Luke Avenue Sports Complex in West Berlin - home of the 1999 League Champion West Berlin Fire Company. The day will start at 9:00 AM with our Third Annual Home Run Derby. Each year the competition has gotten more exciting. We have approximately 25 entrants for the "Derby" and so far the winner has emerged on the last swing.

Berlin Borough Blue Marlins Win Championship

The Berlin Borough Blue Marlins defeated the Berlin Township Red Raiders in the championship game held under the lights at the Berlin Borough Sports Complex. Before the game started, they had to have a coin toss to see which team would be the home team. Berlin Township's Coach Dott called tails and won the toss. Even though the game was at Berlin Borough, it was the team from Berlin Township that was the home team.

Red Raiders Win 2 To Make It To Finals

The Berlin Township Red Raiders started their playoff run on June 15, 2000 against rival Berlin Township Blue Lightning. The teams split the regular series, and the winner of the game would play the winner of the two Clementon teams.

Red Raiders Win Under The Lights

On Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 pm under the lights, the Berlin Township Red Raiders came up against a very tough competitor in the Berlin Borough Blue Marlins. The first inning the Marlins came out swinging with a triple hit by Andrea D. they went ahead 4 to 3. Andrea also did a great job at third base. Berlin Township girls did not get discouraged as they kept up the pressure. The eight years olds really hung in there with doubles hit by Meghan W., Sam L., Michelle F. and Michelle T. Also a hard line drive double hit by Nicole E. to knock in two more runs.

On Saturday, June 3, it was a beautiful clear, very sunny, windy day for a softball game. The Red Raiders from Berlin Township came out swinging against the Berlin Borough Blue Angels. It was definitely a high scoring game.

Gloucester Catholic Snatches Victory Away From Camden Catholic

The highly regarded Camden Catholic softball team had everything going their way during their successful 2000 season. Behind their ace pitcher Sarah O'Malley, they had tabulated an impressive 24-3 record. Standing in their way to a South Jersey Parochial A title were the Gloucester Catholic Lady Rams. To everyone's surprise, outfielder Desiree Wilson made an amazing catch in the outfield and doubled off the runner at second to preserve a 1-0 victory over the Irish in nine innings.

Lady Eagles Soar Like Never Before

On Wednesday May 17, 2000, sister schools, Edgewood and Overbrook met on the Overbrook softball field for an Olympic Conference Patriot Division game. Both teams seemed determined, but the Lady Eagles came out on top and soared like they never have before.

Edgewood Upsets Top Ranked Shawnee

The Edgewood Eagles (7-5) upset highly ranked Shawnee (11-4) in an Olympic Conference softball game by the score of 2-0. The weather was great for softball, sunny, light breeze, and warm. The game was scoreless and saw a pitching duel between Edgewood's Switenko and Shawnee's Basenfelder until the bottom of the fifth.

Moorestown's Active Bats Defeat Willingboro

With the Easter break completed for most schools and April showers hopefully now over, Willingboro traveled to Moorestown in a Burlington County girl's softball game. Both these teams were looking for any kind of win late in the season. After scoring early and often, the Lady Quakers had little problems defeating Willingboro 12-2 on Monday afternoon.

Season Opens For BTAA Girl's Softball

The bad weather postponed the Saturday opening game of the girl's softball league until Sunday at 12:30 pm. It didn't look like the game was going to be played, based on the way the weather was in the morning, but the sun came out and the kids had a lot of fun. The field was dry and in good shape, thanks to the coaches and parents that helped rake the field.
