Audubon Bats Do the Talking Against Eagles

Wednesday, May 9, 2007

By Jerome Michaels
SJSports Special Correspondent

During the season, most of the time a team plays an opponent two times from their division usually on their home field. The first time the Eagles from West Deptford hosted the Green Wave from Audubon, it was a pitcher's duel and West Deptford would hold onto an early lead. Both of these teams were looking to get back on the winning track as they would lose their previous game during their opponent's last at bat. This time at Audubon, the Green Wave would score in every inning except one and were not too hospitable as their six run fifth inning put this game out of reach. Audubon's Nate Cowan and Bob Chiarulli would highlight this game with a homerun each and the Wave would cruise to a 14-3 win.

There's always that expectation that the seeding designated for a team should determine the outcome of a game. The higher seed, in this case Audubon hosting Sterling, is the favorite to come away with the victory. Well the sixth seeded Green Wave from Audubon didn't disappoint the predictions when they took on the Silver Knights from Sterling who was the eleventh seed in the South Jersey Group 2 bracket. Three key hits during the bottom of the second inning proved to be the difference in this game as Audubon advanced to the next round with their 4-1 victory. Hilt Does It All for West Deptford

Friday, May 5, 2006

By Jason Brown

Baseball can be a very interesting game where sometimes the bounces on the field just don't go your way. When those times occur, the main focus is to just get the outs in order to get through an inning. On the other side of the players' bench, there's a different feeling that the players don't want it to end. In a Colonial Conference game played at Audubon, the high flying Eagles from West Deptford were the recipients of everything going right for them. Starting pitcher Justin Hilt drove in seven runs with his bat and West Deptford cruised to a 22-6 win over Audubon.

Morgan Provides the Arm Power for Audubon

Friday, April 7, 2006

By Joyce Sagerty
SJSports Special Correspondent

It all begins with the pitcher on the mound at least concentrating on getting the ball over the plate with some velocity for a strike. When that confidence begins to build up, the pitcher begins to add a bit more arm swing behind the pitch. Heather Morgan for the Green Wave from Audubon was able to strike out ten batters against Haddon Heights this afternoon. With Morgan's success on the mound, the offense would provide an early three run lead that the Lady Garnets were unable to overcome. The Wave would post a 7-2 victory in conference play.

By Jerome Michaels

When the seedings were announced for the state's basketball tournament, there's always one pairing that has all the implications of a match up that will turn out to being a very close game. Seedings can be deceiving as the home team, Cinnaminson seeded in the eighth position, took over this first round game against Audubon. With a double digit lead in the fourth quarter, the Green Wave would cut into that deficit. The Pirates would be able to withstand Audubon's efforts and regained control of this boys' South Jersey Group II basketball game. Dan Korenyi would lead the Pirates to the 69-53 victory.
